Chamber wins £1000 because of their iPhone App

23/03/2011

Renfrewshire Chamber’s iPhone app – the 1st Chamber app in Europe, has just been awarded The British Chambers of Commerce – Chamber’s choice for the most outstanding contribution to the recruitment and retention of Chambers members. The app was voted best new idea from 35 entries by 40 Chambers across the UK at the recent BCC Commercial Academy.

Commenting on the award, Chief Exec’ Bob Davidson said – “we were approached by one of our members, mvAppHub, who asked if we would like to pilot a new build your own iPhone app product. As someone that is interested in technology I seen this as an opportunity for the Chamber to innovate. Within a few weeks the app was live having been designed, built and tested plus approved by Apple. 6 months later – the app has been downloaded over 300 times and helped us achieve our highest membership levels, run more well attended events than ever before and helps keep businesses informed and up to date with all aspects of the Chamber including events, news, members directory, Board & Team.”

mvAppHub are now developing the app builder for Android, Windows and Blackberry

Commenting further Bob said “the process is simple, and the cost is not prohibitive – business is changing – this is not a fad – chambers have to embrace new technology and engage with those members that use this technology.”

Mobile developer reaches the FInals of Dragons Den Competition

App Hub just missed out on 1st place at the ROCCO awards in Scotland.

James Scott and Craig Champion presented to a panel of experts back in September where mV App Hub was subsequently entered into the final of the Innovation & Technology category.

But this year, the first for App Hub, was sadly not to be our year. Apparently it was a tough decision based with the judges commenting on just how clever App Hub is.

We hope that with the developments planned for 2011 that next year we will be clear favorites.

UK mobile developer launches UK’s first build your iPhone app online service to lower the cost of mobile development.

03/07/2010

Mobile developer mvAppHub are the first company in the UK to provide a website that enables businesses to build their very own company iPhone application online.  And the cost for such a new service? Just £45 per month!

mvAppHub mobile development was started by Craig Champion of Glasgow, Scotland in 2008 and was set up to specialise in the design and development of mobile applications for the iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry and Windows.  However in the summer of 2009, both directors realised that mobile development, in particular iPhone apps, would soon become as important to companies as having a website. The problem was that they knew that the price to develop a bespoke iPhone app may put some companies off this innovative new medium.

After eight months of development, the two mobile development entrepreneurs had cracked it and mV App Hub was launched. The online system was designed for business customers and the first to take advantage of it was Scotland’s Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce. The chamber app, which includes chamber news, chamber events, details of services and pictures and profiles of the chamber team is currently awaiting approval from Apple.

mV App Hub allows businesses to create their app onscreen.  A simulated iPhone displays a series of individual modules that a potential business app could include i.e. news, events, products, surveys, google maps and social media.

Each client chooses which modules they would like within their app then simply enter text and imagery for each module via the website. The iPhone app simulator shows what the final app will look like and on completion one of mvAppHub mobile development team will check and submit the iPhone app to iTunes.

According to James Scott of www.mvAppHub.co.uk “As mobile developers we could see just how important iPhone apps were and what an opportunity it offered smart businesses to interact with their customers”

Mobile development really hit the big time when the iPhone was launched. The iPhone is the best selling smartphone in the UK and one of its most important features is its ability for people to download iPhone ‘apps’. These apps developed by mobile developers such as mvAppHub have become synonymous with the iPhone. In fact there are over 90 million iPhone apps available on iTunes for users to download.  The iPhone app, which is short for application, is basically an added function that users can download to their iPhone. These functions vary considerably and include games apps, news apps, how to guide apps, hotel apps or clever widget that turns your iPhone into a spirit level or compass.

For consumers, this means instant access to company information, products, events or news without the need to wait for their computer to boot up. For business, investing in mobile development will enable them to interact with their customer’s on a whole new level.

Whatever the reason for developing an iPhone app, business will soon realised that consumers want information as soon as they need it. If that means when a computer is not at hand then that information needs to be available on a different source – their iPhone.

Businesses can start building their iPhone app online through mV App Hub for just £45 per month. Simply sign up and get 7days FREE mobile development to get a feel for the system. After which there is a small set up fee of £150 which include telephone and email assistance from the mvAppHub team.

For smart businesses, launching an iPhone app now means the potential for press coverage

Should you build an iPhone App or Android App first?

01/07/2010

In the May 2010 Admob report for the UK, a survey of 962 respondents showed that companies considering a mobile app should still start with building an iPhone app before moving on to building an Android app or building a Blackberry app.

iPhone v’s Android Market Share June 2010

The current market share of operating systems is as follows; iPhone 73%, Android 16% and Blackberry 7%.

What is important to note is that Android is increasing rapidly due to the number of phones that are available on this platform and also the availability of phones that are a) less expensive compare to the iPhone and b) are on a less expensive tariff compared to the iPhone.

Users of iPhone apps & Android Apps

Apps, be it iphone apps or Android apps are fundamental to the iPhone and Android phones. Both users of iPhone apps and Android apps regularly spend at least 79 minutes a day using apps according to Adbob. The most recent statistics also showed that people download on average 9 apps per month.

How much do you love your iPhone and iPhone apps?

The report also looked at how much people like either their iPhone or Android phone and found that of the people surveyed 91% would recommend the iPhone compared to Android users where 88% would recommend their phone.  Remember that to date there are around 12 phones available on the android platform.

The statistics in this news article are taken from a survey based on 963 respondents in February 2010 recruited from the AdMob network. No incentives were offered for completion. Visit http://metrics.admob.com for more details.

Launch of mV AppHub (BETA VERSION)

24/06/2010

It is finally live!  It is Wednesday the 24th of June 2010 and the UK based online service mvAppHub is now live. Our initial plan of being able to offer companies the ability to build a highly sophisticated iPhone app online is now a reality.

After 6 months of development the overall system for building an iPhone app online is better than we could have hoped. We are working hard on a few other aspects and like with all BETA versions there will undoubtedly be a few bugs in the system, but overall if you are a company that want an iPhone app for your business and like to be able to have someone on the end of the phone to talk you through the process...then look no further than mvAppHub. mvAppHub iPhone development began in by Glasgow based entrepreneur Craig Champion early in 2009.

The company was set up to provide bespoke iPhone applications and apps for customers in Norwich, Norfolk however soon progressed throughout the UK including Scotland. As the need for iPhone apps increased, mVAppHub was launched to enable businesses customers to build iphone applications and apps online for just £45 per month.

iPhone apps home grown in Norwich Norfolk.

23/06/2010

Started by Craig Champion, mvAppHub was originally launched to offer iPhone applications or apps in Glasgow, Scotland.  However, mvAppHub soon expanded its operation to include Scotland and the rest of the UK.  Because iPhone app development is a global requirement it was not long before mvAppHub were developing iPhone apps to companies as far a field as Canada. It became clear however that iPhone apps were for the bigger companies with a larger spend...until now. mvAppHub launched mV App Hub to specifically target SME’s on a tighter budget, enabling them to create their own business iPhone App at a fraction of the price.

Sometimes you can tell that the creative director is a man. iPhone app development priced as low as a mobile phone contract!

21/06/2010

The pricing of iPhone Apps from mV App Hub are as low as most mobile phone contracts.  At just £45 per month, companies can build their own iPhone app and take advantage of marketing initiatives usually restricted to large big budget companies.
There is a £150 set up fee to get things started, but this includes telephone assistance for companies that need a little help. It also includes a review by mvAppHub before the app is submitted to Apple for final approval. Once the customer has completed their iPhone app online, the content will be turned into the final iPhone app and a video will be sent to the customer for them to approve.  Until now, the features available through mV App Hub would have cost companies in the region of 5-10k.
